ResToolbox2 released

Thanks for all your support over the past few years – I’ve received many positive comments and some pleasant interactions in person when people find out that I’ve created this app. There have been thousands of installs of various flavours of this tool and so it is with heavy heart that I’ve decided to retire the original ResToolbox application. With the retrofitted multi-language and multi-unit support, it became too unwieldy for me to update efficiently any more. Additionally, at the time of creation it was  just a grab bag of utilities – some of which I used, and others just because they were laying around

So I started again, with more thought to the functionality that would be offered, and the structure of implementation.

Sorry to say that I won’t be offering multi-language any more – that became a bugbear for me to keep updating as I added or changed items

I plan to offer metric as well as oilfield in the (not too distant) future – but in a way that makes it easier to maintain going forward. For the initial release it will be oilfield only

The big change – it will be FREE for all!!

I’m releasing it as a different app, so that people who have paid for the original version, and want to keep the existing features that may not be in V2 can do so, but I have removed V1 from the store.

A sample of new things to look forward to;
1.     Nodal analysis – for naturally flowing vertical gas and oil wells
2.     Type curve generation – Including 2-Segment declines, defined a number of ways including fitting to target EUR’s
3.     Simple aggregation of type curves into field production profile controlled by drill rate and plateau limit
4. Calculation of confidence interval of observed mean, given observation count and estimated property variability.

I look forward to receiving community suggestions of additional or enhanced functionality to implement next.

Mark
